Some Muslims' attitudes toward the West
Here are some samples of some Muslims' attitudes toward the West:
1- Those who would be seen standing at Western embassies awaiting for visas to migrate to the West (They occasionally curse the West, mostly because they are semi-educate; the desire to curse everything is the most widespread side effect of modern education);
2- Those who are in powers and are secretly plotting with the West to keep their nations backward, while severely rebuking them in the open and blaming the West for the very thing they assist it to accomplish (i.e. preventing the accomplishment of any genuine local attempt to reform be it borrowed from the West or indigenously inspired);
3-Those who are always examining the sky and checking their environment worried that they might be the next target of some kind of a drone attack;
4- Those who curse the West not exactly sure why, but because they think it is the proper thing to do, at least for now;
5- Those who believe that the West is the party of the Devil--hizbu al-Shaytan--and strongly militate against it, assuming that in doing so, they are carrying a religious duty. The West in their eyes is indivisible, and anything coming from the West or resembling something coming from the West is to be reviled.
6- Those who work in a secular-like opposition group and are cursing the West, not exactly because they hate it, at least not profoundly, but in order to outdo those in power who also curse the West. Of course, both groups meet with Western spies, spies disguised as politicians, human right activists, area experts, and businessmen. They often cooperate with it in a manner that clearly undermines their countries' sovereignty;
7-Those who like Western products, especially entertainment for themselves, and especially during their youth and strongly revile them once they enjoy some measure of maturity;
8-Those who know the West very well, and know the extent of its meddling in their countries and the extent of their elites involvement in the process; they are aware of the irrational stance of any global, negative or positive response to it, they know murkier nature of the waters one has to navigate in his/her engagement with it. They know the complexity of the West as a locus of myriads of contradictory currents and shades of good and evil, of genuine humanism, profound philosophical insights, ingenious civilian and military technology; resourceful arrogance, an unimaginable selfishness, civilized hypocrisy, contemptuous civility; homogenizing diversity, captivating ugliness and a vast heart-breaking, mind boggling, sensory-tempting spiritual wasteland. They know this and more. In dealing with the West, they take various routs. They have little in common beyond their profound knowledge of the West and the fruitless, never ending and philosophically unsatisfying chase of an evasive particle of optimism in a maze of gloomy clouds;
9- Those who find in the West their dream of being something they aren't. These are the usual self-hating Muslims;
10- Those promiscuous minds which espouse more than one of these categories in their non compos mentis journey to greater mental confusion and scholarly eminence!
